Quick Notes From your own material

Turn your PDF into study notes.

Upload the lecture PDF you were already going to read, and get it back as short, scannable revision notes — grouped, condensed and drawn only from what your document actually says.

How do I turn a PDF into study notes?

Upload the PDF, choose the format you want the notes in, and Edgify writes them from the text of that document. Nothing is pulled in from outside the file you gave it, so the notes stay inside your syllabus.

How it works(01)

From a PDF to a study guide in three steps

1

Add your material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file, or paste the text straight into the box. Edgify reads the text out of the file for you.

2

Pick a format

Choose how you want it back — key points for a fast pass, formulas and terms for memorising, a summary for a quick recap.

3

Revise and export

Notes appear as they are written. Copy them, or take a PDF or Word copy with you.

Formats(02)

Six ways to get your notes back

STUDY FORMATS

Same document, different study guide

One upload, six ways to read it back. Switch format and regenerate whenever the way you are revising changes.

  • Key Points — The 6–10 most important, most testable points.
  • Main Concepts — The core concepts, each defined in one line.
  • Exam Points — High-yield facts, plus the questions likely to be asked.
  • Short Notes — The whole topic condensed to the essentials.
  • Formulas & Terms — Key formulas, definitions and terms worth memorising.
  • Summary — A tight one- to two-paragraph recap.
WHAT GOES IN

Your material, not a generic summary

Edgify works from the document you give it. Nothing is pulled in from elsewhere, so the notes stay tied to your syllabus and your lecturer's emphasis.

  • Upload PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown
  • Or paste text directly — no file needed
  • Export the result to PDF or Word
Why your own material(03)

Why work from your own PDF instead of a general study guide?

Scoped to your course

Only what your document covers

A general study guide covers the textbook. Your exam covers your module. Working from your own PDF keeps the notes inside the second one.

Nothing padded

Short on purpose

Every format is written to be revisable in minutes rather than complete. The point is what you can hold before an exam, not word count.

Good to know(04)

What should I know before I upload something?

What Edgify accepts

PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown files, or text pasted directly. Scanned pages with no text layer, slide decks in PowerPoint format, audio and video are not supported.

Notes are AI-generated

They are drawn from your document, but they can still get something wrong. Check them against your source before you rely on them — see our AI disclaimer.

FAQ(05)

Questions about turning a PDF into notes

What kinds of notes can I get back?

Six formats, from the same upload: key points, main concepts, exam points, short notes, formulas and terms, and a summary. You can switch format and regenerate as the way you are revising changes.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. Edgify reads the text layer of a PDF, and a scan or a photograph of a page has none to read — there is no OCR step. Edgify detects this and tells you rather than returning empty notes; pasting the text in directly is the way around it.

Can I paste text instead of uploading a file?

Yes. Quick Notes takes a pasted block of text as readily as a file, which is the quicker route for a few pages copied out of a slide deck or a web page.

How large can the document be?

PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown files up to 10 MB. PowerPoint decks, audio and video are not supported. A long document is condensed rather than reproduced: every format is written to be revisable in minutes, so length in equals brevity out.

Can I keep the notes after I generate them?

Yes. Notes can be copied out, or exported as a PDF or a Word document that you keep whether or not you come back to Edgify.
